A Still Life with Plums

For my commercial work I’ve been mostly creating in my regular cute low poly game art style, so I wanted to make something different, something more artsy for fun. I’ve always wanted to try and capture the effortlessness of 2d sketches with purposely wrong perspective in 3d.

I haven’t worked on a still life since early University days. Turns out I kinda missed making composition decisions based purely on color and shapes. Not having to think about the logical places for day to day objects like you’d have to if you were making an isometric room for example gives you a chance to make a much more satisfying composition!

Normally I gravitate towards more hard surface props and making this organic branch was a fun challenge. And this was a good excuse to practice using Shape Keys in #Blender for the vase and the branch animation!
So a successful study if I can say so myself ✨🙌
